The journal paper "Effect of shape of aggregates on the rheology of mixtures for pumping applications" published in Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) Journal is chosen for the "Best Paper Award (2024)". The main authors are Mr. Sadanand Govilkar and Dr. Kandagaddala Revanth Kumar. The award will be presented to them at Kochi on 28th September 2024.

Ms. Anupama Ghimire recieved Late Prof. Subrahmonia Ayyar Academic Excellence Award, for her academic performance in first year.
She is the best performing female M.Tech (Civil) first year student according to her CPI at the end of the first semester of the academic year 2023. She is currently working with Prof. Swathy Manohar.
Prof.Ayyar was one of the founding faculties of the Civil engineering department at IIT Bombay.

Mr.Tejyas Dasa got selected for the fully funded UNESCO World Heritage Education Programme called 'World Heritage Young Professionals Forum 2023' to be hosted by the Ministry of Culture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He will be participating in the forum during 2-13 September 2023 Saudi Arabia, and also give a presentation on heritage sites.

NSSS Aparna completed her Ph.D. defence on the research topic - "Engineering the alkali activated ground granulated blast furnace slag and fly ash based binders for developing the concrete with pumpable workability and enhanced workable time". Hackathon competition was conducted at the 40th Edition of the International Symposium on Automation and Robotics in Construction (ISARC 2023) during 3rd to 7th July 2023, hosted by IIT Madras in Chennai, India.
Theme of the competition - "Leveraging AI for Sustainable Construction".
Problem statement: To develop an AI/ML model best suited to predict the compressive strength of concrete produced from recycled concrete aggregates.
Out of the 60 teams that participated from around the globe, the Our CTaM team (Mr Sudheer Kumar N, Mr Ankan Karmakar, Mr Nabodyuti Das and Mr Samarjeet Salunke) emerged as the Winner. This competition provided an incredible platform to showcase our skills and ideas to a global audience.

Ann Francis completed her Ph.D. defence on the research topic - "Modeling and Benchmarking the dynamic sustainability interactions of buildings using a fused approach of System Dynamics simulation and

Dr. Vishal Sharma from Norther Alberta Institute of Technology, Edmonton, Canada visited SIM group for a two week collaboration effort funded through Shastri Institute. Dr. Sharma co-taught with Prof. Albert in the course CE 723 - Construction Equipment and Personnel Management.

Prof. Venkata Santosh Kumar Delhi is the first occupant of this newly established Chair Professorship.
This position was established by alumnus Mr. Pankaj Jagtap (B.Tech/Civil/1995) for outstanding faculty in area of Construction Management, in memory of his father.
The ‘Chair Professor’ - also known as endowed professorships - is one of the highest honours awarded to professors in academia for excellence in teaching and research. Faculty members at IIT Bombay who pursue high-impact, innovative and cutting-edge research and teaching are awarded these prestigious Chair Professorships.

The candidates are selected through a rigorous selection process and their performance is reviewed suitably through a national convention.
Omprakash has been working on ‘Urban Building Energy Modelling’ and the research work is supervised by Prof. Albert Thomas.

The project won second place in 'Attached Housing' segment in the 'Solar Decathlon Contest' held by US Department of Energy.
It was an intense contest with competitors from all over the world.
Col Kaushik Sen is a Design Engineer of Civil Sub-system and also the Team Lead of Market Analysis (formed for the first time in Team Shunya).
Mr. Harshit Jain is the Quantity Surveyor for the Market Analysis team.
The students mentioned that the courses taught by CTaM link Construction Contracts and Construction Economics and Finance had been useful in their work.
The Construction Technology and Management Division wishes to congratulate its students Ms. Tripti Singh Rajput on securing the best paper award at the International Conference on Recent Development in Sustainable Infrastructure (ICRDSI-2020). The student presented her work titled "An Artificial Neural Network-Based Framework to Optimize the Window-to-Wall Ratio (WWR) of Buildings" and secured the award. The work is categorised under the theme of blended technologies in civil engineering at the conference held virtually from 19th to 21st December 2020.

The Construction Technology and Management Division wishes to congratulate Ms Ann Francis, Ph.D student working under Prof . Albert Thomas on being selected for the prestigious Building Energy Efficiency Higher & Advanced Network (BHAVAN) Fellowship Program. It is a program developed by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India and the Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF). It intends to promote research and capacity building in the area of Building Energy Efficiency/ Built Environment / Habitat Energy Efficiency through collaborative research between India and US universities. Under this program she is funded to undertake research at a US university for a period of four months as a BHAVAN intern.

A 3 day training on Primavera(P6) was organised for the students in association with Infinity PMC Private limited. It introduced the various aspects of scheduling using P6 covering aspects of Resource management, Time management, Cost management , Risk management and Portfolio Management.
IIT Bombay in association with IIT Madras and Vector Corrosion Technologies conducted a seminar on Cathodic Protection. The seminar was intended to educate our engineers on how to assess and control corrosion in concrete structures. The seminar discussed the theme with a blend of underlying scientific principles and research/practice-oriented viewpoints. The key note speaker for the event was Dr. George Sergi who is the Technical Director at Vector Corrosion Technologies and has several international patents on corrosion protection of steel reinforcement. He has 20 years of research experience in the fundamentals of concrete durability and corrosion as applied to steel reinforced concrete. Other Guest speakers for the seminar were Dr. Radhakrishna G. Pillai from IIT Madras who delivered a session on the dire need to go for cathodic protection in Indian scenario; Mr. Liao Haixue and Mr. Dhruvesh Shah from vector corrosion technologies who shared their experiences on corrosion protection and Mr. Deepak K. Kamde, research scholar from IIT Madras who demonstrated the working principles of cathodic protection systems. Dr. Prakash Nanthagopalan and Dr. Muhammad Salman - faculty from CTaM specialisation of IIT Bombay coordinated the seminar for IIT Bombay and also shared their viewpoints about the corrosion scenario and the necessity for remedial measures. The session enlightened the attendees by provide tips to minimise premature corrosion and extend the life of new & existing structures.
